Structures - Interactions - Functions of proteins and glycosaminoglycans

Research interests : Extracellular and pericellular matrix, collagens, matricryptins (endostatin), lysyl oxidase, glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans (syndecans)

Goals : Characterization of protein-protein and protein-glycosaminoglycan interaction networks and of supramolecular complexes formed at the cell surface and in the pericellular / extracellular matrix

Regulation of their formation via post-translational modifications (e.g. cross-linking, and phosphorylation)

Tools : Expression and purification of recombinant proteins, circular dichroism, surface plasmon resonance and biolayer interferometry (kinetics, affinity, binding sites, half-life of complexes), bioinformatic tools to build, analyze and contextualize interaction networks

Physiopathological context : Angiogenesis, Alzheimer’s disease and host-pathogen interactions (S. aureus and Leishmania)

Resource created and maintained by the team : MatrixDB, the extracellular matrix interaction database (, Launay et al., Nucleic Acids Res 2015 43:D321-7)) designed to store interaction data of extracellular biomolecules and to build contextualized interaction networks.
